A Kind Word
Lasts longer than a summer storm,
Longer than the sun’s journey to dusk
Keeping hope alive in the world.
When anger and hate arise to poison.
A kind word, spoken or received, strengthens,
Dissolving the fury of the moment
Freshening the air like the fragrance of lilacs.
The world and people change,
Bringing new possibilities to light.
